Marseilles Close In On CFL Rivals..

 

            Former CFL champions Marseilles have moved back into the CFL title picture after making the most of slip ups from main rivals Benfica and Barcelona to end the turn joint leaders of the CFL title race, only trailing champions Benfica on goal difference following a 3-0 road win at Dynamo Kiev.

            Nicola Barella, Florian Wirtz and Bobo Kamara scored for the French side to put themselves right back into the CFL title race as they move ahead of Barcelona and level with Benfica after both sides were held to stalemates this turn.

            Champions Benfica stay at the top of the table despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home by AC Milan. Young star Joao Neves got the goal for the home side, only for a Ferran Torres effort for the Italians to get a share of the points and a successful trip for Milan on their return home to Italy. Barcelona stay in third place, and only two points behind the joint leaders but missed out on the chance to move to the top of the table after they held to a 2-2 draw in El Classico.

            Real Madrid keep in fourth place as a result of their draw with their Spanish rivals, to stay a point ahead of AC Milan in the battle to be the best of the rest behind the dominant title chasing trio.

            Rodri and Moussa Diaby scored for the Catalans but goals from Dani Olmo and German international Bella Kotchap earned a share of the spoils.

            BFL champions Chelsea remain perfect at the head of the table with win number 15 after a 1-0 home victory over Manchester United. Emile Smith Rowe got the only goal of the game to maintain their 100% winning record after being sorely tested by their visitors. Aston Villa stay the nearest team to the champions and matched their rivals with a 1-0 victory after a trip to Liverpool. Defender Ben White got the goal for the former champions as they stay in the title hunt with Chelsea. Third placed Celtic can’t close up the nine point gap to the league summit after a 3-1 home victory over Everton.

            Tammy Abraham got a brace for the Glasgow giants with Neto completing the scoring to get maximum points despite a goal from Ben Godfrey for the travelling Merseysiders.

            No changes at the top of the SAFL keeps Estudiantes on course to retain their crown after a 3-0 home win over Gremio. Goals from Martinez, Romero and Jota keep them four points clear of rivals Flamengo at the head of the table.

            Brazilians Flamengo stay with their Argentine competitors after a 3-1 road win victory at Boica Juniors. Joaquin Correa scored a couple of goals for the former champions and fullback Ygor completed the scoring to get three points despite a goal from veteran defender Rojo for the home side.

            Racijng Club extend their advantage from fourth placed Lanus with a 4-0 crushing of River Plate to move clear and concentrate on closing the gap on the top two.

Week 16 Possible Delay?

 

Deadline: Mon 20th January 2025

 

                At the moment week 16 will run as usual and be sent out on the 27th January. However i start Jury Service on that same day, in theory should be back in time to send eveything out, but as obviously i have never done this before not sure how the day will go.

                So if nothing comes to you as usual, dont panic i will get them out asap and change the week 17 deadline accordingly. As i say i dont think it should delay things, but who knows.

 

2 Teams In One Division In S41.

 

                Looking through the promotion and relegation battles at the moment there is the prospect of some managers ending up with two teams in the same division next season.

                So this is a good time to remind managers that i DONT allow two teams with the same manager in any of the division ones!

                If  you end up up in this sutuation you can choose which side you keep and which side you will give up, i will also offer you any available side in the lower divisions as compensation if you wish.

                Although technically you can have two teams in the lower divisions i dont encourage it as it leaves you open to problems with a competitve advantage in the games when your sides meet each other. In these occasions team selections may be changed by the computer to avoid any suggestion of match fixing from other managers in the division.

                Just posting this reminder to avoid any confusion when the season ends.
